Labour Councillor Ghlin Whelan has expressed his frustration at a further delay in achieving a Skate Park near to Milton Creek in Sittingbourne.
On Thursday an application to establish the site was withdrawnfrom the agenda of the planning committee and now Cllr Whelan fears this will lead to further extensive delays.
Cllr Whelan has been a staunch supporter of the project ever since young people called for support at a LEF meeting two years ago. He has visited Skate Parks in other areas and has continually pressed the Council for greater urgency.
“At one point I was actually accused of being negative. But the truth is the project has no ownership of land, no planning and very little money. It is rather typical of everything connected to the Sittingbourne regeneration plan. Promises are made, encouraging press statements are put out but the basic work isn’t done. This is a setback but we will keep working at it and we will get there in the end.”
