The Labour Party won the Sheerness seat, with Angela Harrison once again representing that division, and topped the poll in Swale Central to win one of the two seats there for Roger Truelove. The Conservative Party previously had all 7 County seats in Swale but are now left with just two. In all County divisions the Labour vote increased, most notably it rose by just over 17pts in Faversham.
These results show that the Labour Party is making progress across the Borough, and signs are encouraging in the Sittingbourne and Sheppey constituency, where we are seeing evidence of a return to our position in 2005 when we last won the parliamentary seat. We acknowledge there is lots of work to be done and will continue with our campaigning activity across the Constituency and across the Borough.
