Kent County Council is to ask community groups to begin vacating the Phoenix House Community Centre in Sittingbourne from February next year. The Labour Party has long opposed this closure.

There will be a protest and march commencing at 11am from Phoenix House on Wednesday (4th September). Cllr. Roger Truelove will be joining the march with other Labour Party activists.

County Councillor Roger Truelove said: ‘Some of us from the local Labour Party will be marching with those who use this community centre – there simply isn’t an appropriate alternative in Sittingbourne Town Centre for many who use Phoenix House. Tories on KCC have not adequately understood the objections to this closure. Sittingbourne is once again neglected and ignored.’
