Sheppey Councillors and activists joined our Parliamentary Candidate Guy Nicholson for a Street Stall by the Clock Tower in Sheerness on Saturday 31st August.
Many people raised the lack of shops and well paid jobs on the Island despite recent and planned housing developments. Regeneration was a clear priority and many expressed support for plans to pedestrianise Sheerness High Street on a Saturday for safety reasons as well as in the hope it might increase footfall.
Veteran Councillor for Sheerness West, Steve Worrall, who was with Guy for the morning said ‘Folks round here want good jobs and a decent town centre – it’s time for a Council that values the Island and an MP to champion us, the Tories always let us down.’
Guy Nicholson added ‘Regeneration is a priority across the constituency – the simple fact is that the Tory MP is out of his depth and Swale Tories on the council cannot seem to understand how you deliver regeneration; we in the Labour team have the vision, experiencing and competence to deliver.’
