At a CLP meeting held on Friday 13th July, members voted to back the Fawcett Society’s ‘Cutting Women Out Campaign’.
The Tories do not care about women’s issues: that much is obvious and it always has been. The Coalition’s cuts are hitting women three times harder than men. Whilst the Labour Party should be fighting to reverse the damage these cuts are having on everyone, women are particularly vulnerable as they are more likely to work in the public sector, more likely to be in part time work and are more likely to be in receipt of child benefit and child tax credits.
The Labour Party has a proud history of progress for women; this CLP’s endorsement of the brilliant Cutting Women Out campaign set up by the Fawcett Society reaffirms this.
